The Spectator Arena Task Force Committee brings together representatives of city staff, council members and community leaders to evaluate and guide the process of replacing the 72-year-old Jack Gatecliff Arena with a new, multi-purpose facility, appropriate for arena sports, spectator events and trade show functions.
The Spectator Arena Task Force Committee will create the new contemporary Spectator Facility as an integral part of the downtown revitalisation strategy. The venue will attract artists and events, and stimulate additional investment in the City.
The Spectator Arena Task Force Committee main goal is to seek private sector investor and management support to develop the Facility on a municipally-owned site within the downtown core of the City, under a professional management and operator group.
The Spectator Arena Task Force Committee is chaired by the Mayor of St. Catharines. Membership consists of City Council representatives, municipal government staff and representatives of local businesses, community organizations and St. Catharines sports community.
All Spectator Arena Task Force Committee members have voting privileges.
The Spectator Arena Task Force Committee members shall observe all corporate policies of the City of St. Catharines with respect to the Code of Conduct and Harassment policies and make every effort to attend all meetings.
The Spectator Arena Task Force Committee members are appointed for the duration of the project.
